General info:
The first car was named the GT (for Grand Touring) with the 40 representing its overall height of 40 inches (1.02 m, measured at the windshield) as required by the rules. Large displacement Ford V8 engines (4.7 liter and 7 liter) were used, compared with the Ferrari V12 which displaced 3.0 liter or 4.0 liter.

Yes, this is the F.English 1002 at Monza, 24 April 1966, driven by Innes Ireland. Car retired before Chris Amon got to drive. GT40 P/1002 on track Photo appeared in our book, and is copyright with LAT Photographic.
I bought the car from Brian Classic in the early seventies and sold it to Roger Douglas-Hughes in Saffron Walden who kept it for some years.Currently owned by the ex Chemist Allen Lloyd I believe
My father rebuilt the car at some point in its life from 2 damaged cars. It was resprayed yellow from some leftover lotus paint and the engine replaced for something less thirsty. The original was buried in his mother’s rockery in Windsor!
