Le Mans 1966 soundtrack

NOTE: This take about 10 to 15 second for the sound to start and you may need to adjust your sound level up.

“The Mulsanne Straight at night – In the distance a 7-Litre Ford GT40 prototype is heard at 210 miles an hour as it roars past on its way to the sharp right-hander at Mulsanne Village. Another GT40 is heard hurtling up from the left and slowing down for the turn. In their wake, well back, the pack follows.”

Note: the sound level is kind of low on this so you may need to turn up your sound to get the best effect.

This is the first in a series of 16 sound tracks from an old vinyl record produced in the 60s.

If you click on the video and play this directly from you tube it will play all 16 parts automatically.

I have down loaded and converted these to MP3 format then zipped them all into 3 separate groups so they can be downloaded.

  1. Fantastic! This is an excerpt from an album called Le Mans 66 released in the UK by Decca. I had this album but lost it many years ago. Thanks for the memory

  2. I have been searching for this for quite some time. Would love to get a digital (mp3) copy of the album. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

  3. Been looking for a mp3 copy of this album for quite some time. If you could upload a copy… that would be great! Thanks in advance.

  4. Today, while searching in a charity shop I found a good copy of this LP, and bought it. I like novelty / comedy records. I have never seen another copy, and I imagine it must be rare.

      1. I down loaded these, converted them to MP3 and made them available for download. they are not mine and I’m not selling them.

  5. Thank you for posting this. I’ve just listened to it for the first time since 1975, when I was living in a student residence just off Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. It was a 17th century stone courtyard, 9 storeys high, and my room was on the bottom level. I’d just bought a new stereo so a friend and I put the speakers out of the window, cranked it up to full volume and put on the LP. The sound of a GT40 flat out down the Mulsanne Straight echoed throughout the Old Town – as did the cries of ‘What the **** was that???’ from the residents of James Court. As the soundtrack helpfully explains, “That was a Ford – at 210 miles an hour.’ Thanks for reminding me!

    1. I down loaded these, converted them to MP3 and made them available for download. No need for vinyl anymore, unless you are a collector or just want to play a record for old times sake, and, nothing wrong with that.
