Ford GT40 chassis number GT40 P/1028 :
Configured as a road car 1028 was delivered to America and sold new by Kar Kraft to Dave Tallaksen in Atlanta.
As delivered: Silver Gray, fitted with air conditioning, luggage boxes. It was undercoated and equipped with a sunbeam tiger air cleaner. Borrani wire wheels were fitted as sold.
Mr. Tallaksen had the car painted dark blue and had a 289 cobra race engine fitted. In February 1969 1028 was sold to Steven Earle of Los Angeles CA. Mr Earle had the car fitted with Halibrand alloy wheels.
1028 was sold again in 1970 to an owner in Newport Beach. Sold yet again in 1975 to Gorden and Carmen Schroeder in Hollywood CA.
In 1981 it was repainted in Gulf colors to resemble the Le mans winning GT40 for use in a gulf oil television commercial.
