GT40 P/1032

Ford GT40 chassis number GT40 P/1032 :

Color: as delivered – unpainted. Delivery configuration: bare chassis.

GT40P/1032 was supplied to SIA for completion as a Mark II as replacement for GT/107 in the racing program.

1032 was supplied to Holman Moody painted black and white and fitted with a 427 engine and Kar Kraft trans.

First raced a sebring it finished 2nd. Used as a test car then painted bronze and prepared for the 1966 Le Mans race.

Later repainted to resemble GT40P/1046 that won Le Mans and used as a show car then placed into storage at Holman Moody.

In 1970 1032 was loaned to the Hulman Indianapolis racing museum. Eventually 1032 was officially donated by ford to the Indianapolis racing museum.

Later 1032 was next moved to the museum’s early wheels exhibit in Terra Haute Indiana. The car remains on display and in excellent un-restored condition.

Update: in 2006 GT40 P/1032 underwent a 5 yr restoration and is now fully restored and on display in it’s original paint scheme as race at 06/66 : Le Mans, #4 – link: http://ford.to/13P2bZV
